In&Around was established to promote Shops and Services around the region on the Internet. People we speak to tell us what a great idea it is to promote local business and to increase awareness of exactly what items and services can be found within a 10 to 20 minute drive. The purpose of the directory is then basically twofold:

• To provide a substantial (free) web page for those businesses not already online through which they can attract online sales & customers, and potential clients who are searching online.
  
  
• To actively promote ANY businesses to the search engines with an aim to attract online sales, new online customers and clients who use the internet regularly to find products and services want.

Our Directory is also ideal for the home based “one-person” business – to let people know you’re out there and what you have to offer - but also it’s an extremely cost-effective way to start to get established on the Net, in particular, listed with the search engines so your business can be found.

All of our subscribers get a full page entry containing details of their business with full contact information. Basically, the “look” and content of each page is done in full consultation with the client, and is currently provided free of charge.

Your single web page, especially if coupled to your own personal domain name (please enquire), is a “website” in every sense – it can be viewed online from anywhere in the world, and it can be marketed to the search engines so that you can be found by what you do – which is exactly the service we offer.

Internet Marketing (Search Engine Submission) This is the crux of our service. Each client page is individually marketed to the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, Msn, ….) on a monthly basis. If you take a look back at some client pages, you’ll see that they are rich in phrases that describe the nature of the business, in particular, any specific product lines, brands or services offered.

These are the all important key phrases that we endeavour to get listed in the indexes of the various search engines. Month by month the indexing gets stronger and broader as the page becomes more and more established, the aim being to get the business consistently showing high in the search listings. Whilst this can never be guaranteed, we hope our performance to date can speak for itself.

Some Example Searches in Google

Google, for example, generally updates its indexes once or twice a month to take in new information coming online. When a new client page has been set up and its details submitted by us, we tend to get it into the search listings under business name, telephone number and postcode very quickly, often following the next indexing.

After one or two further monthly submissions, it’s not unusual to find their page listed on page 1 or 2 in Google for several of their most significant key phrases. This then broadens and strengthens as the months go by.

Being essentially a local directory, it was important from the outset to become well indexed under local geographical names. People who are sourcing items locally will usually include towns or regions in their searches to narrow down the search results.

As some of the examples show, it is also possible to achieve good page one positioning without the use of local terms, particularly where there are very specific key phrases to hook onto.

As mentioned, the cost of setting up the page and readying it for marketing is currently FREE, for a limited period only. The cost of subscription, which is towards hosting of the web page and on-going marketing, is just £25 per quarter (no holding contracts), which we feel is extremely good value (less than posting one second class letter a day).
